The Daily Scroll - You Feed Them

The Bible in Luke chapter 9 details the event in Jesus‘s life when thousands of people were following him to hear his message, and be healed. At one point the disciples came to Jesus and told him to send the people away for food and lodging because they were hungry and had no place to stay in the wilderness. But Jesus turned to his disciples and said the most perplexing thing. He said “you feed them.”

Unsettled they replied, “But we have only five fish and two loaves and there are 5000 men out there.”

So Jesus took what they had, five fish and two loaves, prayed over them, broke them into pieces and enabled the disciples to feed 5000 men plus the women and children who were with them. He could’ve done it in many ways but he chose to use his disciples to do it and he blessed what they did with the provision to do it. When you see a need and the Lord puts it upon your heart to help someone, even though it seems impossible, depend upon him to enable you with the ability to do what he’s called you to do. Then do it!

The Daily Scroll - Faith Begets Faith

As Jesus approached the home of Jairus where reports spoke of the death of his little 12 year old daughter, with people grieving and wailing outside, He said to them,”The girl is not dead, she only sleeps. But the people knew that she had in fact died. They were witnesses to her death. We see that Jesus spoke and believed in a different outcome. In spite of the facts, He believed with everything in Him that she would live.

As He entered the room where she lay, He only took three disciples, and the parents of the girl. People who hoped, and prayed that Jesus would heal her. People of faith, not doubters. As a matter of fact He separated Himself from the doubters, but those whom He brought in with Him would be witnesses of the miracle. His faith began before He arrived, for He spoke and existed in faith before arriving on the scene. The seeds of faith were within Him, the seeds were fertilized and grew to the point that when He arrived on the scene, He simply harvested the miracle. In the Spirit, this miracle had already happened. The future became the present.

As it is with Him so it can be with us. If we believe. - gene

The Daily Scroll - The Red Heifer

For all you prophecy watchers around the world watching the events leading to the end times second return of Christ, another piece of the puzzle has come true. A red heifer must be used in the purification of the Jewish Temple and it has arrived in Israel. As a matter of fact, the Jerusalem Post has posted, and I quote,

“Five perfectly red heifers, required for the ritual purification of those who have touched a dead body, arrived in Israel from a ranch in Texas on Thursday, as the Temple Institute continues preparations to lay the ground for the construction of the Third Temple in Jerusalem.

Follow this link for the entire story. https://www.jpost.com/judaism/article-717650

These are exciting times to see the season described by Jesus and the prophets. Looking for the rapture of the Church to precede these events.

The Daily Scroll - The Choice

And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” (Genesis 2:16-17)

God gave Adam and Eve a choice. If they eat from this tree they will die. If not, they will live. It’s simple choice really. Who wants to die? They chose death and therefore every human being who came from them, including all of us, were doomed to suffer the consequences of that poor choice. However, God in His mercy gave mankind a re-do. A re-do! He sacrificed His only begotten Son to suffer death in our place. All we have to do is repent of our sins and accept Lord Jesus as our Savior for what He did for us on the cross.

Again, a simple choice. It’s not complicated. A person of any accountable intelligence can understand this choice. We all stand on the threshold of eternity and our simple choice determines our future. Life or death?

“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)

The Daily Scroll- Broken

Let’s face it, sometimes life is hard. Very hard. There are people in nursing homes who have family that never visits. Family that they gave their life for, and yet they remain forgotten. Leaving them…broken.  Single moms whose husbands abandoned them for selfish reasons, leaving them…broken. Men who worked twenty years for a company giving their all and right before retirement they’re downsized. Leaving them…broken. There are children who roam the streets without food because of a drug addicted mother or father who are only thinking of their next fix leaving them…broken.

There is one who has experienced brokenness on a level which we can’t imagine…Jesus. He went through it for us, so that in our brokenness we’d have Him…to heal, to comfort, to love, and help us through. If you’re broken today, turn to the one, maybe the only one, who really cares…Jesus.

The Daily Scroll - Like Jesus

Jesus said, “But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also. Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don’t try to get them back. Do to others as you would like them to do to you.” (Luke 6:27)

Wanna be like Jesus? Love, do good, bless, pray, offer, give, do. Well there you go!

The Daily Scroll- Step into the New

“Gimme that old time religion, it’s good enough for me.” So the song goes, but is that really good for us? For the word of God says that the Lord is doing a “new” thing. And the Psalmist cries out for God to create a “new” heart within me.

Jesus said, “New wine must be stored in new wineskins. But no one who drinks the old wine seems to want the new wine. ‘The old is just fine,’ they say.” (Luke 5:38-39)

Ask yourself, what is God doing in the earth today, and am I a part of it. It is recorded in the Bible in Acts 2:27 ’In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”

We live in those days now. Are we embracing the new or are we satisfied with the old. Is the old just fine with us. I hope not because God is doing a new thing in the earth. We should seek Him and His plan for our lives. He has one and its good.

The Daily Scroll - HURT PEOPLE HURT PEOPLE

The pop singing group REM have a powerful song and video called “Everybody Hurts.” It’s an example of hurting people and how that there are people, all around us, everyday people, who are silently going through despair, loss, grieve, pain, disappointment, betrayal, and for some, suicidal thoughts.

Most of these people have been hurt by others. Some in personal relationships, some in business relationships, and some by the death of a loved one. Within every situation we have the feeling that nobody understands, nor does anybody care. So in our pain we live our lives suffering quietly.

With pain just below the surface we are apt to strike out. We strike out at those around us and even those we dearly love. The next time someone hurts you, take a second and ask yourself, “Is this person just being mean, or is there something more going on here. Realize that hurt people hurt people.

The Lord Jesus experienced all the pain and suffering as we do in His earthly walk among us. In the Bible written in John chapter 11 we read about the death of Lazarus, a friend of Jesus and the brother of other friends of Jesus. When He saw their grief, He was touched and grieved with them. It says that Jesus wept. Jesus, the Son of God, wept over the grief of His friends for the loss of their brother. And we know, as the story continues, that Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.

He relieved them of their grief and He’ll help you as well. Whatever you may be going through, realize that there is comfort in the Holy Spirit, and hope in Christ Jesus. Don’t give up. You are loved.

The Daily Scroll - PURITY

I was watching a video of a large stream with water flowing over rocks steadily. As the water flowed over the rocks it became white with froth. It looked so pure and clean. I wanted to dip my cupped hand in the TV screen and draw out some of that pure, clean, water to drink. I imagined how refreshing the taste would be. Then the video changed and followed the water passed the rocks and became a small river, flowing like before, but more peaceful and sure. I watched it flow off into the distance and thought that we are like that river.

When life gets rocky and our way, our flow in life, seems turbulent and unsure, know that God is purifying you. As you flow over that rocky time in your life, know that like the waters in the river, you are being stirred, aerating, and caused to become more pure. It’s something you go through that enables you to become that peaceful flowing river. What began as a rocky stream becomes pure refreshing water fit for use by the master; enlarging you into that peaceful river that flows in the will of God.

He’ll Bring you through that rocky place. It’s all part of the plan to change you into who you are meant to be, a beautiful pure child of God.

In Ezekiel 36:25 the Word says, “I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be cleaned; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you.”

The Daily Scroll

An amazing account in the life of Jesus found in the Bible.

“As the sun went down that evening, people throughout the village brought sick family members to Jesus. No matter what their diseases were, the touch of his hand healed every one. (Luke 4:40)

If the sun is going down on your day, and hope is lost, reach out to the healing hand of Jesus. He heals every one He touches. He’ll help you. - gene

The Daily Scroll

I was reading in the Bible, Luke chapter three, where it describes the genealogy of Lord Jesus. I counted 77 generations. I was reminded of the story of the man who sat in church, who was living in sin, but was hesitant to come to the altar and give his heart to Christ. The pastor was preaching on Luke chapter 3 going through all the generations of Jesus, which most people would find a pretty boring part of the Bible, being so repetitious.

Suddenly this man, having been hesitant for years, stepped forward to the front and ask the pastor what he must do to be saved. The pastor led him in the sinners prayer and he was gloriously saved after having given his heart to Christ. Afterward the pastor asked a man what it was that motivated him to give his heart to Christ?

He said that after listening to all those generations of men that had lived, given birth to a son, and died he realized that he was going to die too and he wanted to make things right. So friend even with the most boring passages in the Bible, like a repetitious genealogy, there is power. The word of God is powerful and will touch your heart when nothing else will. Seek him in his word.
