Are you like me and struggle with the lures of the flesh? Lures and temptations come in many forms, originated and orchestrated by the enemy of our souls…satan. Think about it. Every vice, sin, and lust of the flesh is a twisting, a perversion of the pure and Holy gifts of God. Some of which are; we are to be satisfied with what we have and depend on God for our substance, yet we steal. We are to love truth and not bear false witness, yet we lie. We are to honor the Lord with our bodies, yet we commit fornication. We are to honor the sanctity of marriage, yet we committed adultery. We are to lay down our lives for a friend, yet we commit murder. Just to name a few.
Though we were all born in sin inherited from our granddaddy Adam in the garden of Eden, Lord Jesus took all that away on the cross when He died in our place. He paid for all these, and every sin, when we could not help ourselves. When we accept the grace of God our Father, and the payment for our sin through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, then we are free. Father bonds us to Himself and Christ by placing us in Him on that cross as a sovereign act. The Apostle Paul said it best…
“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.”(Galatians 2:21)
So we lawbreakers are released from the sin that permeates us by trusting in Christ as we live in Him.
