We watch TV and see a commercial for the latest new electric vehicle. Our interest is peaked and now we think, “I’d love one of those.” The video shows how many things you would do in that vehicle and now you’re not content to drive to work in your 8 year old gas guzzler. Sound familiar? Advertising does that to us. No matter the product, they make us want something that we don’t have, which makes us lose contentment with what we have. This cycle could drive us into debt and make our lives most stressful.
However if we live our lives for God, and find satisfaction in our lives, we can have great happiness and joy. The Bible teaches us this.
“Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.” (I Timothy 6:6-8)
Be Godly, be happy, have contentment.
