The Daily Scroll - The Priest

Thaddeus was groomed to be a priest. As he grew, he worked his way up the Jewish order until he became the high priest. Most men in his position became proud, boastful, and acted superior to others. But Thaddeus wasn’t that way at all. He was humble before his God. When he entered the Holy Place to make sacrifice for the sins of his nations, he first sacrificed for himself. He wanted to be pure before God in order to make sacrifice for his people, the nation of Israel.

The older he became, his own sins diminished yet he was still a sinner. He longed for the day when he would meet God and be blameless. He wondered if this were possible. And then he died. Another man came and God Himself made Him a priest, a priest who would live forever to intercede for us forever, after the old order. The order that began when time and the ages forgot. Jesus is man and God who lived a sinless life. No sin dwelt in him.

The Bible says, “There were many priests under the old system, for death prevented them from remaining in office. But because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.” (Hebrews 7:23-25)

Come through Christ to God your Father. Receive forgiveness of all sins, and find your place in the family of God, and a place in eternal life.
