Sara was a hard working, very intelligent woman of the modern age. But with all her knowledge, she had one big flaw. She honestly believed in reincarnation. She was raised a Catholic, went to Catholic school, but somewhere along the way she lost her pure faith. She believed that Jesus was her savior, but she also believed that she had lived past lives. It’s difficult to convince some people their error and quoting the Bible doesn’t always seem to have an impact. People who believe a lie usually don’t believe the Bible either. This becomes the basis for their unbelief.
Almost always they will say what Sara said. “The Bible was written by man, not God. Many things in the Bible aren’t true.” So at that point, don’t debate, just tell them about Jesus. Eventually I led Sara in the sinners prayer. Even the Apostle Paul was most effective when he didn’t debate the beliefs of the sinners. But simply told them about Jesus and prayed in the power of God and His demonstration of power and healing.
The Bible teaches us, “And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.” (Hebrews 9:27-28)
One Death, one Savior, one eternal life in Christ.
